MMC Laser Summit-2025 - Laser Workshop - Department of General Surgery
A laser workshop - MMC Laser Summit-2025 was conducted at Malabar Medical College hospital, Modakkallur, Kozhikode by the department of General and Laparoscopic Surgery on 19th January 2025. The workshop was attended by more than 100 delegates from all over Kerala including consultants and postgraduate students. This program provided the delegates to enhance their knowledge on Laser Proctology and Laser treatment of varicose veins.
The scientific program was commenced with an excellent talk on Physics of laser technology by Dr. Rajeev Premnath followed by talks on Machine introduction and safety by Mr. Praveen and Applied anatomy of Laser Proctology by Dr. Devaraj. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Anil Kumar Vallil, honourable Chairman of MMCH and RC. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sreejayan, HOD of General Surgery - Government Medical College Calicut was honored during the inauguration ceremony.
The sessions continued with talks on laser hemorrhoidoplasty, laser sphinterotomy, EPSiT with laser, FiLaC and challenges and complications of laser proctology. This was followed by an exemplary talk by Dr. Sunil Rajendran on Applied anatomy and steps in EVLA. Each sessions were very interactive with inputs from various consultants.
The afternoon session was live demonstrations of each discussed procedures. Selected 15 delegates had the chance for inside OT training/ hands on training on these. The program was concluded with a valedictory function.
