International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
The Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, observed International Day against drug abuse and illicit Trafficking on June 26, 2025. Programme was organised by Dr Amrutha MS ( Assistant Professor , Department of Community Medicine) and Dr Arjun B Sanoja ( Senior Resident , Department Of Community Medicine) under the Guidance of Dr George P Jacob ( Professor and HOD, Department of Community Medicine) in coordination with State government anti-drug campaign Bodha Poornima and Calicut district Panchayat 2 Million pledge taking program. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Amrutha M.S., followed by an expert session on drug abuse by Dr. Linda L. Lawrence (Senior Resident, Department of Psychiatry). Dr. George P. Jacob and Mr. Krishnan (Administrative Officer, MMC) addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of community and institutional support in curbing drug use. An anti-drug pledge was taken by all participants, and winners of a poster-making competition were awarded. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arjun B. Sanora, marking a successful observance that promoted awareness to a drug-free society.
