Dr. Arun V. J

Assistant Professor

Department Of Transfusion Medicine

Dr. Arun V. J. is an Assistant Professor and Blood Centre In-charge in the Department of Transfusion Medicine at Malabar Medical College Hospital & Research Centre. He holds an MD in Transfusion Medicine from Jubilee Mission Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Thrissur, and an MBA in Hospital Administration from BITS Pilani. His unique dual qualification in clinical medicine and healthcare administration positions him at the intersection of clinical excellence and institutional leadership. He joined in our institution on 15-04-2024 as Senior Resident and later promoted as Assistant Professor.

Dr. Arun's work in transfusion medicine is grounded in the operational reality of resource-limited settings. As Blood Centre In-charge, he has driven significant improvements in donor management, inventory optimization, and quality assurance protocols. His clinical practice emphasizes evidence-based transfusion therapy while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and patient care protocols. He has established himself as a thought leader in voluntary blood donation and community engagement.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Arun is deeply invested in capacity building and professional development. He conducts regular training workshops on AI applications in healthcare, equipping medical and paramedical staff with tools to improve diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency. His leadership philosophy centers on building systems and processes that enable teams to deliver better outcomes. He mentors junior faculty and residents, emphasizing both technical competence and the softer dimensions of medical practice—communication, ethical decision-making, and institutional thinking.

His work spans three interconnected domains: transfusion medicine (clinical protocols, donor management, quality systems), institutional leadership (building cultures of excellence, process optimization), and professional development (training, mentoring, and publishing on soft skills). This integration ensures that his clinical work is always informed by organizational thinking, and his leadership work is always anchored in clinical reality. He operates under a simple covenant: "No patient shall die in need of blood." This principle drives both his clinical decisions and his institutional advocacy. He believes transfusion medicine is not a specialty to maintain but to build—creating systems, training people, and establishing standards that elevate the entire ecosystem of blood safety and availability in India.
