Dr. Suma Unnikrishnan joined our institution in June 2026 as Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology. She brings with her extensive academic excellence, rich clinical experience, and advanced surgical expertise in the field of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Suma completed her MBBS, Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO), MS (Ophthalmology), and DNB (Ophthalmology) from the prestigious Government Medical College, Kozhikode. Her strong academic foundation and commitment to lifelong learning have enabled her to develop comprehensive expertise in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of a wide spectrum of ophthalmic disorders.
Over the course of her professional career, Dr. Suma has gained valuable experience in patient care, clinical teaching, academic research, and departmental administration. She is recognized for her patient-centered approach, meticulous clinical judgment, and dedication to delivering high-quality eye care services. Her areas of interest include comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract management, ocular disease diagnosis, and the advancement of evidence-based ophthalmic practice.
As an educator, Dr. Suma has been actively involved in mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, guiding them in both academic and clinical training.
