World Immunization Day
World Immunization Day is celebrated every year on November 10. This day is
dedicated to educate community about the importance of getting timely
vaccinations against vaccine preventable diseases.
Immunization makes one immune or resistant to an infectious disease, through
vaccine. Vaccination protects children and adults from life threatening diseases. It
also reduces the spread of disease in the society. Vaccines stimulate the body’s
own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease.
Vaccination does not require any major lifestyle change. Immunization is one of the
most cost-effective health investments. Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the role
of vaccination in disease control.
